Overview
Here's a stat that kills me: 48% of salespeople (and law firm intake people are salespeople, whether they admit it or not) never follow up with a prospect. Not once. Of the ones who do follow up: - 25% make a second contact and stop - 12% make a third contact and stop - Only 10% make more than three contacts Now here's the kicker: 80% of sales (and client conversions) happen between the 5th and 12th contact. Read that again. Most firms stop at 1-2 follow-ups. Most conversions happen at 5-12 follow-ups. THE MATH DOES NOT MATH. Why Law Firms Are Terrible at Follow-Up It's not because they don't want to follow up. It's because: 1. New leads feel more exciting than old ones. Fresh form fill at the top of the inbox? Call that one. The lead from 2 weeks ago who didn't answer? Eh, they're probably not interested. 2. It feels awkward. Nobody wants to be "that guy" calling for the 8th time. Attorneys especially don't want to seem desperate. 3. There's no system. Follow-up lives in someone's head, on sticky notes, or in a CRM that nobody checks regularly. 4. Staff turnover kills it. Your intake person quits. The new person doesn't know about the 47 leads that needed follow-up this week. The Fortune in the Follow-Up Every sales trainer on earth has said it: the fortune is in the follow-up. But no one acts on it because follow-up is boring, repetitive, and thankless. Until it works. Then it's the most profitable activity in your firm. AI and the Follow-Up Advantage AI doesn't get bored.
